Today marks the second birthday of the founding of The Alexander Team! That’s right, it’s been just 24 months since we came together and teamed up to form what has now become one of the foremost real estate groups in the country. Needless to say it has been a wild ride thus far! First and foremost, we want to thank all of our clients, without whom this level of success would not be possible. It is undoubtedly true that this is a client-driven business, and without the loyalty and trust of our clientele, we would be absolutely nowhere, so to each and every one of you, thank you!
Today, in honor of our second birthday, we wanted to take a few moments to reflect on the past, present, and future of the Alexander Team. It’s just the beginning!
It all started around April 2012, at the same time as the publishing of this article in the Real Deal Magazine. At this point, teaming up was a relatively new concept and it was on the rise, but we knew in order to get where we wanted to go we needed to form a team. Through months of hard work and dedication, we were able to establish ourselves as young and tenacious real estate agents with the connections and resolve to succeed in a tough market. Soon enough, we had closed important deals in Florida and New York, including the record-breaking sale for the most expensive home ever sold in South Florida, representing the buyer and seller at Indian Creek Village for $47 million.
Soon after, with our team growing, listings in New York started to be signed and business grew thanks to the support of our clientele. Within just over one year of forming, we had also begun our record-breaking trend in New York City, beginning with Trump Tower, selling at the highest recorded sale price in the thirty year history of the tower.
We continued what was becoming a habit of breaking records with our next sale, taking place at 150 Columbus Avenue. At 150 Columbus, we again broke the sales barrier, achieving the highest record sale price and price per square foot in the building, having a fully executed contract in one week at $16 million. The previous highest sale price in the building was $6 million!
Further, as much as we love finding clients the perfect home, one of our signature strengths is identifying value. Here are two examples in which we were able to make our clients a lot of money in a short period of time:
At the Time Warner Center #69B, we represented the buyer in March 2013, purchasing the unit for $13 million. Just a few months later, we re-listed the property in late 2013 for $16 million, a challenging price but one that we felt was in line with the luxury market. Within 30 days, we had a fully executed contract and shattered the price per square foot record in the TWC for non-penthouse units, garnering over $6,700 per square foot!
At 102 Prince Street #2, it was a similar story. In 2013, we represented the buyer of this unit for $8.9 million. Just one year later, we were able to flip the unit and sell it for $13.8 million, making our client $4.9 million in one year, or a 44.9% profit! This was achieved through our carefully targeted marketing to a global clientele, as well as effective publicity and deep understanding of the current market.
After our first birthday is when things truly began to change. In late 2013 and early 2014, The Alexander Team has expanded globally and truly taken our sales to a new level. This has been highlighted most by our most prominent deal, taking place at 19 East 64th Street. This immaculate townhouse will be the new site of the Qatarian consulate, as we represented the State of Qatar in the sale. By identifying prime off-market opportunities for a client with very unique needs, we were able to find the correct building with regards to size, location, and security that our client needed. Upon closing, this unit will break the record for the most expensive townhouse ever sold in New York City. We are just happy that our client found a suitable new residence and consulate!
All of this is just the beginning for our young team. Already within the past two years, business has taken us to Tel Aviv, Paris, Aspen, Hamptons, Doha, Dubai, Qatar, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Moscow, London, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, and Geneva, and the global expansion is just starting. A serious expansion is on the close horizon for us, with Los Angeles and Aspen as our newest headquarters opening soon. With new exclusives being signed almost every single day and the strength of the team growing, the future of the Alexander Team is very bright. At just two years old, we have just finished crawling and are beginning to walk. Wait until you see us run!
